Jackson Square launched its ‘Package for Milly’ campaign on International Women’s Day 2025, with the aim of tackling period poverty within the local community and supporting those who may simply find themselves caught short. The initiative provides a simple, discreet and dignified way for people to access essential menstrual products when they need them most.
Anyone can request “a Package for Milly” from a member of the Jackson Square team and receive a free package containing menstrual products, with no questions asked. In addition to essential products, each package contains a QR code providing access to educational resources and support services. Named after pioneering suffragist Millicent Fawcett, the campaign reflects her belief that knowledge and opportunity are fundamental to equality. By pairing practical assistance with accessible education, Package for Milly aims not only to address immediate need but also to empower individuals through information and awareness.
Since its launch, the initiative has continued to grow and has secured its first official partnership with social enterprise Hey Girls.
Operating on a buy-one, donate-one model, Hey Girls ensures that for every product purchased to support the initiative, another is donated to someone experiencing period poverty elsewhere in the UK. What began at Jackson Square has now expanded to more than 20 shopping destinations nationwide, with further locations continuing to join the campaign. Through this partnership and the programme’s growth, more than 6,000 menstrual products have been donated since March 2025.
We are proud that eleven retailers and community partners across Jackson Square have joined the initiative, providing free and discreet access to menstrual products for those who need them. Participating locations include:
- Next
- Starbucks
- Pandora
- Hotel Chocolat
- Hays Travel
- The Fragrance Shop
- Grape Tree
- The Entertainer
- Bishop’s Stortford Library
- Unique Hairdressing / Male Barbering
- FatFace
Jackson Square remains committed to making a positive difference within the local community, supporting those experiencing period poverty and ensuring help is available to anyone who may unexpectedly need access to menstrual products. By demonstrating that practical, free and discreet solutions can be implemented successfully, we hope to encourage more businesses and organisations across the UK to take action and help break down the stigma surrounding periods.
Together, we can create a future where nobody has to go without essential menstrual products because of financial hardship or circumstance. Every package shared is a step towards breaking the stigma, encouraging open conversations and ensuring no one feels alone when asking for help. Because periods are a fact of life, and access to safe and comfortable menstrual care should be a right, not a luxury.
